THOMAS W. CRANMER

​​Thomas Cranmer is a Senior Principal and Co-Leader of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone practicing both criminal and civil litigation. He is a former Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Oakland Count and a former Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan. He is also a past President of the State Bar of Michigan as well as a past President of the Oakland County Bar Association.

Mr. Cranmer is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and he is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He was recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as its Lawyer of the Year in 2014 and received the Excellence in Defense Award form the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel in 2015. He is also a past recipient of the Federal Bar Association's Leonard R. Gilman Award presented to an outstanding practitioner of Criminal Law.

ERIC CONFORTI, CPA, CFE

FORENSIC EXPERIENCE

Eric is a senior manager with our Forensic Accounting Services group, specializing in providing

forensic investigations (the team conducts more than 100 each year), data analytics, and internal

control analyses. Professionally trained in a variety of interviewing and interrogation methods, he has

identified millions in losses due to asset misappropriation across a variety of industries. Eric has

helped organizations prepare economic loss claims that are filed with insurance companies and

provided referrals to law enforcement at the federal, state, and local levels, resulting in dozens of

criminal convictions.

Prior to joining this practice, Eric gained valuable experience serving as an auditor on Plante Moran’s

governmental team. His governmental clients ranged from courts and libraries to one of the largest

County’s in Michigan. Eric is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He is a

member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Institute of Certified Public

Accountants, and the MiCPA Fraud Task Force.
