  • 2018 Students and Young Professional Night

    ​On April 11, Students from several local universities as well as young accounting professionals from the Pittsburgh area joined the Pittsburgh Chapter of the IMA for an evening geared toward the future professionals in our field. 

    The event started off with presentations from several IMA members as an introduction to the organization and the many available tools and offerings available to members.   Keith Schwarz, President of the Pittsburgh Chapter, provided some background on the IMA and was followed by long time member Cary Efaw informing the students on the benefits of the CMA program.  Lorretta Corrigan briefed the students on student chapters and student memberships.   

    The evening also included the awarding of our annual scholarship to Mirranda Flick from Clarion University and was followed by a lively seminar put on by Diane Lazarowicz entitled ‘Achieving Career Success Through Networking’.

    Hi UP IMA Chapter Member!

    That’s a wrap on another year of IMA!  Our chapter offered six CPE credits this year – tours of RTI Surgical and Argonics as well as an update on Eagle Mine at our Holiday Dinner!  For those needing CPE, this is a fun and educational way of obtaining them.  Many thanks to those involved in setting up these activities and especially to our hosts and speakers.  Your efforts have made this year another successful year of IMA! ..More More
  • Chapter event on Fraud & Risk Management

    IMA Delhi chapter successfully held its first independent event "Fraud Detection & Risk Management by Ethical Control", on 21st April 2018, at India Habitat Centre, Lodi Road. Key Speaker to the event was Mr. N. G. Shankar  - CA, CIA, CISA, having 36 years of experience in accounting, finance, treasury, and internal auditing. Mr. Shankar is now a member of the IIA Professional Certifications Board. He has qualified as a CA and then acquired CIA and CISA certifications. More

  • Campus Influencers Superstars

    The Campus Influencers program from IMA®
    (Institute of Management Accountants) continues to
    expand and reach more students, as volunteers made 61 school visits in 2017. The Campus Influencers program was launched in January 2016 with a mission to reach accounting students at U.S. colleges
    and universities to tell them about IMA, CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification, and the career possibilities in management accounting. With 1,953 students attending presentations at 78 events at 61 schools this year, the Campus Influencers program has grown considerably in the last year.     ​​Winter storm Toby resulted in the William Penn Inn closing and the cancellation of our meeting on March 20th. We hope to reschedule our guest presenter, Richard Godwin, Blockchain Program Lead for SEI Investments, in the 2018/2019 calendar.

    Board elections for the upcoming year are still in progress. A vote will be held at our May meeting for the nominees of our 2018-2019 Board Officers and Directors. Only IMA members in good standing are permitted to cast a ballot. New Officers and Directors will serve for the Chapter year commencing on July 1, 2018 and concluding on June 30, 2019.

    This year's Global Salary Survey from IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) reveals that finance professionals with the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification earn 62 percent more in median salary and 67 percent more in median total compensation than non-CMAs. That is an increase from last year's report, which found CMAs earned 45 percent more in median salary. More

  • IMA/CCSU Scholarship Winner

    Our CCSU Scholarship winner is Nilton Silva. Nilton will be recognized at our May 15 chapter meeting. Nilton is already a member of the Hartford Chapter, after expressing interest in the CMA certification and being awarded the IMA Global sponsored CMA Scholarship after being nominated by his professor.   • Bob Dow Ethics presentation - Dec 2017

    n Friday December 15th, we held a breakfast event with 2.0 hrs of CPE in Ethics.  Long-time IMA contributor Bob Dow made a very informative and entertaining presentation at La Madeleine at the Perimeter. 

    Thanks to those 28 folks in attendance for bringing food for the Atlanta Community Food Bank --- we took 62 pounds of cans and packages to their center! More

  • Job Opportunity: Plant Finance Manager - Fremont, OH

    Job opportunity for a Plant Finance Manager position.  A large, rapidly growing manufacturer located in Fremont, OH. They have a great company culture, work hard to promote a healthy work life balance and will allow this individual to make an immediate impact! There will be a heavy focus in costing in this role. While you will not have direct reports, you will have full P&L responsibility and will manage the finance function for the entire plant. Some of the additional job responsibilities, include:

    -Preparing financial reports
    -Month end close
    -Forecasting and budgeting
    -Analysis of balance sheets for key accounts
    -Preparing and analyzing P&L statements, material usage, cost statements, labor and sales and manufacturing statistics
    -Analyzing operating and financial results and providing process improvement suggestions
    -Assisting in internal and external audits


    -7+ years of financial analysis and costing experience within manufacturing is absolutely required
    -Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    -SAP experience preferred
