Everyone is unique and the things that motivate people at work or become obstacles for their motivation are going to vary from person to person. This course will help leaders understand various ways to motivate themselves and others trough discussing a number of different approaches to motivation, the impact of the gig economy on motivating a workforce, and how to manage for motivation. Additionally, we explore some principles from a company that is known for being a best place to work. Participants will come away armed with a wealth of knowledge and tools to deploy for their own and others’ greater motivation at work. Upon completing this webinar, you will be able to:

  1. Define the importance of motivation in the workplace.
  2. Describe why typically motivates individuals and teams, and the obstacles to motivation.
  3. Recognize others' motivational preferences and adjust communications accordingly.
  4. Identify approaches, tips, and examples for improving motivation.

Evan Scarbrough

Evan Scarbrough is a recent graduate from Eastern Michigan University. Since graduating with his Masters in 2016 he has worked as an auditor with the City of Detroit, a tax practitioner, and consultant in both the public and private sectors. Currently he is working at a local financial management firm leading their tax services area. He works part time teaching Accounting at Oakland Community College. He completed his CPA in 2017. He has served as part of IMA's MEF Grant Committee,Student Case Competition Judge, Subcommittee Co Chair of the SBC, Leadership Academy, SCMS Committee Chair, and at the chapter and council level.
