FINANCE FUNCTION PARTNERING FOR THE INTEGRATION OF SUSTAINABILITY IN BUSINESS

Companies are shifting priorities to strategies that further purpose and drive value.  Customers, employees, policy makers, and citizens, among others, are looking to business not only to produce profits but also to deliver progress on global issues such as corruption, climate change, deforestation, ocean plastic pollution, and the fair use of human talent, which includes embracing diversity and inclusion and employee engagement.  Successful integration of sustainable business practices requires CFO leadership and the ability of the finance function to partner with other corporate functions.

This program will provide the highlights of IMA®’s (Institute of Management Accountants) June 2020 C-Suite report, CFO as Value Creator, Finance Function Partnering for the Integration of Sustainability in Business.  This report provides a framework for CFOs and the finance function to serve as effective business partners for integrating sustainability to meet enterprise-wide goals.  This report is based on IMA’s interviews with corporate finance and accounting professionals regarding their current leadership in their organizations’ sustainable business activities, which are summarized in a companion white paper, CFO as Value Creator: Finance Function Leadership in the Integrated Enterprise.
